ISV - Dragonfly: Speedmaping version - babling of a wicked man.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hm, they told me to write a commentary. Cool. Noone gonna read that (exept for Hellscrag, but whatever) so I can pour my "thought" into this document... If you are reading this - be afraid. Be very afraid.

The idea of such a thing as ISV-Dragonfly map came from... Actually, from nowhere. It was just an idea that, at the time of starting the whole mapping process, seemed quite good. I need to confess that I wanted to create more playable content but it didn't work. Shit happens. Back to the subjet. As the idea of the story was new, the rest, that is, a way of presenting it - dialogues, interactions with NPCs, more walking then actual fights - was my old dream (one of many) that I never was able to achieve. But, with time I learned few things and it actually did work. I always was fascinated in doing things in cooperation with AI. Somehow working together with nonexisting being... Even so incredibly stupid and scripted... Be able to create a feeling of life, crowd, intelligence with such a primitive tool as Fire engine is, I think, difficult. And I have no idea if I succed. But I tried.

And I'll try harder, when creating the big version of ISV-Dragonfly.

Please, please, please - READ THAT PART AFTER SUCCESFULlY COMPLETING THE MAP... s...

I said something 'bout the idea. Now, what about the actual things included there.

The biggest part of all gameplay in these maps are dialogues. Passive unfortunatelly. Active dialogue's script was too buggy. It starts simply. In your cabin. After a harsh night with imaginary Skaarj shredding you into scraps you wake up and then hear your best friend, McArthy, saying that there's work to do. So you get up and all story happens. What are the bluish things living on this meteor... I can't tell... Even though I want. The most interesting dialogues are those of McArthy and Barry, in space. "My girl lives under four" - that's a clue, look for number four and you'll meet the girl. Brodey, the ship's captain, one of your old friends, after becoming captian your relations cooled a lot... It's a hard task to give orders to your friends.
Of course McArthy, a sex addict (not as addicted as Barry though) is just trying to get the attention of Terry Sullivan. You'll meet her also. Unfortunatelly, what you'll probably notice, Sullivan is more interested in another person... The dialogues with McArthy can give you quite a big image of the life Dell (that is YOU) and McArthy have. These which you see are only a part of all which I prepared for later maps. There's of course the "doing other tings" motif and, my favorite, "shitting ice". The part with Zen being hurt is shortened, it would be impossible to understand without next 4 maps with full storyline, engines part is cut as it is used in next 2 maps, so I had to do with Fred in the engines controll room... Insted you can listen to 4 good jokes from him... If you already haven't notice that...

I hope that characters I created are enough alive in it's practical sence... If not, tell me what I should correct.

Qtit The Brave.
